Bio

Dr. Jean Tzou, PhD, LCP has been practicing therapy for over 15 years, most recently in Chicago, with extensive experience counseling individuals, couples, families, and groups. Prior to starting her practice in Chicago, she has also served as a clinical director, supervisor/clinical trainer, as well as an adjunct professor in various settings and states. 

She is committed to serving the needs of her clients, recognizing that most psychological issues manifest as problems in interpersonal relationships. Dr. Jean uses interventions to create healthy patterns that allows clients to reconnect to their inner selves, recognize personal needs, and help them relate to others.

Dr. Jean is fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English. Having moved to Chicago from Taiwan, she understands the unique challenges of immigrants and of those who grew up in multicultural environments. 

Philosophy

Dr. Jean has developed a theory and treatment model that integrates positive psychology, systems theory, and empowerment feminist theory to help clients turn adverse experiences into positive energy. 

Because her approach is innovative and collaborative in working with her clients in Chicago, clients respond well with Dr. Jean’s therapy work. She works with clients to:

  • establish awareness and confidence
  • arm them with the tools needed to overcome challenges, like a roadmap to overcoming distress 
  • recover from various traumas 
  • reclaim their senses of self

Above all, she values and respects her clients by providing a safe supportive space for the healing process to occur.
